Margate Airport Transfers · Express Travel Kent

Airport transfers from Margate, Cliftonville and west Thanet

Pre-booked airport transfers from any address in Margate, Cliftonville, Westgate-on-Sea, Birchington-on-Sea and the CT7 villages of Acol, Sarre and St Nicholas-at-Wade to Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and London City.

Think of it as an airport taxi you arrange ahead: the online booking system shows a fixed fare for the whole car before you confirm, and that figure stays put if the M2 or the M25 is slow on the day. Express Travel Kent runs the service around the clock, and every journey is pre-booked.

Further down: typical times to each airport, where a car can stop in Margate Old Town and by the Harbour Arm, why Mill Lane car park is no use for an early flight, and where visitors are set down for Turner Contemporary and Dreamland.

Local Knowledge

Arriving in Margate from Gatwick or Heathrow

Flying in for Turner Contemporary, a concert at Dreamland or a weekend in the Old Town? Your flight is tracked, the driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with the cases to the car. Free waiting runs for 45 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one.

Heathrow does not allow pick-ups in its terminal drop-off areas, and Gatwick asks private hire drivers to meet passengers in its Short Stay car parks, so the car waits a short walk from arrivals rather than at the kerb.

Where you can be set down in Margate:

  • Turner Contemporary is on Rendezvous (CT9 1HG). If the car cannot stop at your address, it sets you down on Rendezvous: the car park entrance is on the left as you face the RNLI lifeboat station, about five minutes' walk from the gallery entrance.
  • Dreamland is on Hall By The Sea Road (CT9 1XJ).
  • For the Harbour Arm, the nearest council car park is on Market Street. The other car parks nearby are private.
  • Margate Old Town: Market Place is reached from the seafront by Market Street, Duke Street or King Street.

Pickup Points

Pickups in Margate Old Town and on the Harbour Arm

Where a car can stop matters most before an early flight. Notes for the places in and around Margate where it is not obvious, from the Old Town to QEQM.

01

Margate Old Town (Market Place)

The shops sit around the old town hall in Market Place, reached from the seafront by Market Street, Duke Street and King Street. Give your address when you book and the meeting point is agreed with you.

02

The Harbour Arm

The stone pier, finished in 1815, has a bar, cafés and galleries, open daily in summer. The nearest council car park is on Market Street and the others nearby are private, so the exact meeting point is fixed with you in advance.

03

Rendezvous, by Turner Contemporary (CT9 1HG)

Rendezvous Car Park is open 24 hours, with charges at all hours. Blue Badge holders can park there free for up to 3 hours.

04

Mill Lane multi-storey car park

432 spaces, 17 of them for disabled drivers, with a 1.95 m height limit. It is closed from 7pm to 7am, so it cannot work as a meeting point before an early flight: the car comes to your address instead.

05

Northdown Road, Cliftonville

Since the county council's 2024 safety scheme, Northdown Road and several side streets have double yellow lines at any time. The car cannot wait at the kerb, so be ready at the booked time or agree a meeting point nearby.

06

Margate, Westgate-on-Sea and Birchington-on-Sea stations

Coming in by train before a long-distance journey? Any of the three can be your pickup point. Margate station has a car park.

07

QEQM Hospital (CT9 4AN)

The hospital is open around the clock. Flying after a night shift? Tell us the entrance and the time your shift ends, and the car collects you there.

Common Questions

Questions from Margate travellers

The Old Town's shops sit around Market Place, which you reach from the seafront by Market Street, Duke Street or King Street. Give your address when you book and a meeting point is agreed with you. If you are near the Harbour Arm, the nearest council car park is on Market Street.

At your address if a car can stop there. If not, on Rendezvous by the gallery: the car park entrance is on the left as you face the RNLI lifeboat station, about five minutes' walk from the gallery entrance.

Because it is shut. Mill Lane multi-storey is closed from 7pm to 7am and has a 1.95 m height limit, so before early flights the car collects from your address instead.

Yes. When you book, tell us which entrance you will come out of and when your shift ends, and the car will meet you there. If your finish time changes, call as soon as you know.

Not at the kerb. Since Kent County Council's 2024 safety scheme, Northdown Road and several side streets have double yellow lines at any time. Please be ready at the booked time, or agree a meeting point on a nearby street when you book.

No. The fare is fixed for the car when you confirm and does not change for traffic, roadworks, a diversion, an early start or a bank holiday. Waiting beyond the free time, extra stops, and parking fees or tolls on the journey can be added where they apply.
